wp0b1122a2.png

This page is dedicated to giving you feedback on what you have said in the ‘Your Views’ section of the site.

When you give us your views on issues that affect you, and you direct those views, opinions, grievances towards a third party or the Association, and when your views are echoed by other members of the community, we will address those views with the ‘third party’ concerned, or the committee of the Association, whichever is applicable, and then report the response on this page for you to see.

Give it a try. Use our ‘Your Views’ section to state your case, make a complaint or have a good moan about something. If you’re supported we’ll take it up and report back below.

Jumma subject Poll

After prompting by members of the community the Association ran a Poll on the website about what the community wanted Imams to talk about in our mosques at Jumma. The following are the results taken over a period of 90 days.

The first asked the question, "With many problems in the community what do you think is the most important issue Imams should discuss in the mosque with the congregation in the Khutba at Jumma? ". Of  93 respondants the answers were:

0 % - Avoiding extremism

3 % - The wrongs of terrorism

40 % - Abuse of women and children

28 % - Sexism and the rights of women and girls

2 % - Drugs, smoking, alcoholism, gambling as addictions

8 % - Education and learning English for adults

0 % - Honesty in business & paying staff legally and on time

19 % - Men's responsibilities to their family

The second asked the question, "How often should Imams at our mosques discuss women's rights, domestic abuse and sexual abuse and rape in, or before, the Khutbah at Jumma?". Of 99 respondants the answers were:

38% - Every week

56% - Once per month

6% - Once every 3 months

0% - Once a year

0% - Never

These results have been given to Bristol’s Bangladeshi mosques on 15 May and we hope they will give some feedback that we can publish here soon.
