The Association has been the primary supporter of the Bangladeshi community for advice and information since the 1970s. It has held the Legal Services Commission's Community Legal Service Quality Mark for 'Generalist Help' since 2003, is a member of Advice UK (through whom is held Professional Indemnity), is a full member of ACFA and is authorised by the OISC to give immigration advice. Areas of advice covered include education, employment, training, benefits, finance, health, housing, immigration, nationality, passports/visas, race, domestic/marital issues, business, etc., as well as providing family, elderly and young persons support. The Association's officers also have a more specialised knowledge in many of these areas.
Advice workers and other staff will do home and community visits, supporting those incapacitated or without the means to visit the Association. They also visit commerce, industry, statutory bodies, schools, other agencies and services where organisations support the welfare and development of the community, working in partnership.
Our advice services are also dedicated to helping clients and service users to become self sufficient where possible. We therefore run a number of complimentary services, like adult education courses, in line with our policy of reducing dependency where we are used purely for language/literacy support.
Should you require help or wish to talk to an advice worker please make an appointment. We offer a walk in surgery every Tuesdays and Fridays.
Opening hours are:
Monday, Wednesday & Thursday - 10.00 to 16.30 (Last Appointment)
Tuesdays & Fridays - Walk in days from 10.00 - 16.30
